Welcome to Malaysia, land of agarwood Aqiularia spp.

Visitors to Malaysia & Kuala Lumpur city dwellers do not need to track in jungle wilderness to see & know about agarwood Aquilaria spp. trees. Please visit Bukit Nenas virgin forest reserve enclave right in the heart of Kuala Lumpur busy bussiness district. This is the virgin jungle Bukit Nenas forest reserve. You can get this guide map at the park information centre. Forestry ranger officer able to guide you in the park. The park administrative & information centre is at Raja Chulan Road right at the edge of the park. You can wonder & walk the jungle park trail to see & feel the tropical jungle wilderness to see the wild agarwoods trees. There are more than 10 agarwood tress of various species scattered along the trails.

This is one of the aquilaria malacccansis tree in the Bukit Nenas virgin forest reserve, the girth is about 160 cm circumference at breath height. The tree is about 80 mtrs. tall. There are about 10 matured trees & some of them likely about 100 years old. Most of the trees are likely have oleoraisin stained in the xylem. This can be judge from their physical features eg. fallen branchers has stained oleoraisin in it, distintive oleoraisin smell around the tree, many new small branchers sprouting along the trunk, distorted old and large branchers, ect.

This shows that the agarwoods aquilaria spp. were widely distributed in peninsular Malaysia & can be reintroduce to do city jungle landscape & make Aquilaria spp. as Malaysian national tree.
